Presidents : Felicity Jones and Charlie Rex

College:
 Hilde Bede
Subject: History and Chemistry and Earth Sciences (2nd years)

Hello! We are Felicity (left) and Charlie (right) and amidst sequins, sparkles and copious amounts of hairspray we’ll be working hard behind the scenes as joint Presidents of INSTEP for 2016/17. From our first pliés to pirouettes en pointe we have always had a passion for performance and dance, covering an impressive 7 dance styles between us! When we aren’t dancing (which is almost never!) Felicity can be found on the River Wear rowing for her college boat club or eagerly searching through the library archives whilst Charlie can be found modelling a lab coat or staring at rocks for long periods of time! Dancing has always been a defining feature of our lives and we have loved every second on and off stage. We are an enthusiastic pair united by a desire to make dance enjoyable for all. If you love dancing or have never danced at all and want to try something new, then INSTEP is for you…we can’t wait to start dancing with you!

Vice President: Lucy Watkiss

College: Hatfield
Subject: English Literature (3rd year)

Hello! I'm Lucy, a final year English Literature student at Hatfield College. I am delighted to be returning to the exec this year as vice president. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the dance society throughout my time at Durham, acting as secretary, participating in a variety of classes and competing with the intermediate modern competition team. I have thoroughly enjoyed our last two amazing shows 'ICONIC' and 'INSTEPTION' and look forward to planning the next one. I can't wait to get back to Ballet, Tap, Modern and Broadway and look forward to seeing all of our new and returning members at our weekly classes.

Secretary: Francesca Collier
College: Van Mildert
Subject: Politics (2nd year)

Hey dancers! I’m Francesca, a second year studying Politics at Van Mildert, and I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember! Tap has always been my favourite style so I’m super excited to be teaching intermediate and advanced tap this year, alongside my duties as Instep’s new secretary.

Treasurer: Re Foster

College:
 Van Mildert
Subject: History (2nd Year)

Hi, I’m Re your new treasurer for this year. I’m a second year history student at Van Mildert. I started ballet at 8, loved it but finished at 9 when I discovered other types of dance! Since then I’ve done freestyle competitions and display work, contemporary, commercial, jazz, modern and teaching a kids’ class. I’m looking forward to being more involved in Instep this year as a part of the exec and trying out some more new styles.

Social Secretary: Natalie Keogh

College:
Collingwood
Subject: Human Geography (2nd year)

Hi! I'm Natalie and I'm a second year human geographer from Collingwood! I've been dancing and performing since the age of 3 in the styles of Riverdance, Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and Musical Theatre. Before coming to Durham I'd never competed before. However, this year I've loved being part of all 4 of the comp teams and joint choreographing the inter ballet team! The performance opportunities in the annual show and at college/uni events have also been fab! Aside from the dancing, the social side of Instep was great fun and I hope to continue this next year!

Sponsorship and Publicity Officer: Sapphire Demirsöz

College:
 St Mary's
Subject: English Literature and Education Studies (2nd Year)

I’m Sapphire, a second year English Literature and Education Studies student from St Mary’s College. Since joining Instep in my first year I have taken up Street Dance and I performed at the society’s phenomenal ‘Insteption’ showcase in 2016. This year I’m looking forward to joining our new Bollywood dance class, going to lots of Instep socials and helping organise the 2017 show!

Competitions Co-ordinator: Lily Pope

College:
 Collingwood
Subject: Combined Arts (2nd year)

Hi! I'm Lily and I'm so excited to be competition coordinator for the Durham University Dance Comp Team this year! I'm a second year Combined Arts student at Collingwood. I wore my first pair of ballet shoes when I was three and haven't stopped dancing since. Comp team and Instep was by far my favourite part of first year, being in both the Advanced Modern and Ballet Teams as well as the Contemporary team. At Comp team we are a family; we have classes together, we rehearse together, we travel around the country together for competitions and I can't wait for the new recruits to join!

Competitions Co-ordinator: Lizzie Blenkinsop

College:
 Collingwood
Subject: Anthropology (2nd year)

Hi I'm lizzie and I'm so excited to be one of the comp team coordinators. Dancing has always been such a huge part of my life and that certainly didn't change when I got to Durham. Training, rehearsing and traveling around the country together creates such a strong team. The social side is also amazing and it's where I've made some of my best friends at Durham. I can't wait to meet and welcome the new team members this year to create another fabulous comp team for 16/17!
